Is Twitter Right for my Business?

When determining which social media site is right for your business, one of the key aspects to examine is where you’ll find the largest share of the audience you want to reach. In other words, where is the best place to reach your target market?

Definition of “reach”: The estimated number of individuals in the target audience within a certain type of media that is reached at least once during a specific period of time.

Hubspot did a survey of 2,600 of it’s customers, sorted by industry.  Each profile was reviewed to tabulate how many followers and/or “Likes” each had on each channel, which Rick Burnes from Hubspot refers to as “the channel’s reach.”  Check out the table below – you’ll see that Facebook has more “reach” with B2C businesses, and Twitter had greater reach for B2B businesses.

So, as you consider social media and Twitter in particular, visit the site to determine whom you’ll find. Is your target audience out there?  Are they talking about your products and services?  If so, it will be a great fit for you and your business.
