Facebook Adds Skype Video Chat as New Feature

According to an article posted online by the BBC News, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a partnership with Skype to add video chat to the social networking site.

Although Facebook boasts more than 750 million users, Zuckerberg insists that the total number of active users was no longer a useful measure of the site’s success. Instead, he said the measurable amount of online sharing of photographs, videos and web links is a better indication of how people engage with the site.

This is not the first of its kind – Google+ has also released video calling to users. The article also pointed out other differences of the two sites. “At launch, Facebook’s video chat service will only be able to connect two users face-to-face, whereas Google’s system allows group video calls, known as Hangouts.”

Now that people all over the world are able to have a face-to-face chat, what do you think will be the next great thing from the online social world?
