30 Years 30 Heroes: Steve Droen

Steve Droen started his banking career in 1978. We met Steve in 1988 as we opened our first bank account for what was to become CEL Public Relations, Inc. It was Steve’s strong values and ethics, his commitment to family, and his many contributions and involvement with the community that was obvious from the beginning of what would become a long-standing business relationship and friendship. He and those in the bank that he worked closely with carried those same community values and customer service. In talking with other business owners, we were often perplexed that they didn’t have the good fortune of a relationship with a reliable, independent community banker like Steve Droen.

What started as a banking relationship with Steve, soon turned into a trusted confidante and family friend. Being a newcomer to the community, Steve introduced us to the Chamber, later to the Rotary Club, to other business owners, and then to his family. Thirty years later, he has been an advisor, confidante and friend to us, our family, and to the CEL team. Every business owner can share stories of the great times, the challenging times, and those moments when you aspire to carry the values of those that have inspired you in business. Steve Droen is one of those heroes who is a humble servant and at the core of his being carries integrity and impeccable support to his family and friends. If you ask around the communities in which he has served, you’ll learn of his leadership in business, in service above self-organizations, in school and sporting organizations, and within the banking industry. You’ll also have a glimpse into his humble nature, fun-loving spirit, and his ability to stay calm in the midst of chaos.

Steve, you are one of our heroes, and we are forever grateful for your service, support and friendship.
