Davey Fit Forest Campaign

After witnessing the positive outcomes of our notorious Trees Pay Us Back Campaign in communities across the country, the urban forestry experts at Davey Resource Group turned to CEL to create another educational community forest campaign. This time, our focus was the City of Elgin, Illinois with a goal of encouraging residents to invest in preserving and improving the health of trees throughout their community and we rose to the challenge.

The campaign: The Fit Forest. Elgin goes for the green! is a collaboration to grow a healthy community forest in Elgin today, tomorrow and for generations to come.

In an effort to educate the public and provide tangible tools for the implementation of the Fit Forest Campaign, we created a campaign tool kit that includes educational materials, wrist bands, tattoos, Olympic-like medals that serve as awards for growing a fit forest and large medals that hang on trees in Elgin. In addition, we wrote a press release for the city’s public information officer to use to secure
campaign media coverage.

Kicked off on Arbor Day 2010, the campaign will be implemented in Elgin through 2011. Residents are now focusing on trimming the branches, toning the trees, pumping the planting, running the waters, exercising the ecosystem and fortifying the future.
